In August a new patent attorney, Yeon Seok Chu, joined the staff of Sakamoto and Partners. Mr. Chu is a registered Korean patent attorney specializing in mechanical engineering and materials engineering. His past experience includes both work for a major Korean patent firm, Koreana, as well as work in the Korean government agency, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KORTA), where he was involved with Japanese-Korean intellectual property issues.

Mr. Toshio Nakamura was recently named director of the Osaka branch office. Mr. Nakamura’s areas of expertise relates particularly to the fields of chemistry, medicine, and biotechnology. Moreover, Mr. Nakamura gives lectures and writes on various intellectual property topics both in Japan as well as abroad.
