ASEAN’s Regional Patent Database Service Is Generally Available
The Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) has been working on developing a regional patent database service which recently was made available for general use.
This project was launched by the ASEAN Patent Examination Co-operation (ASPEC) Task Force five years ago, and has received support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The service can be accessed at http://ipsearch.aseanip.org/
About 500,000 patent documents including patent family data are currently available in the database.
Moreover, this service is linked to the WIPO Patentscope service which is WIPO’s primary patent database. With this service, a user is able to search published information which includes 65 million patent documents and 3.2 million published PCT patent applications as well as being able to translate these documents into various languages.
