Lawsuit on Hotel Named "Prince" Reached Settlement Agreement

Prince Hotels Inc., a major hotel management company in Toshima Ward, Tokyo brought a lawsuit in the Tokyo district court for injunctive relief against the management company of the “Tabata Prince Hotel” on the grounds that the name of their brand was being used without permission. On September 7, the parties revealed that a settlement was reached between the two on September 6. According to officials, the terms of their settlement include that the management company of the “Tabata Prince Hotel” not use the name of “Prince Hotel” on their own hotel from now on.

The defendant was “Mokurasu Ltd.”, the hotel management company in Kita Ward, Tokyo. They filed for their trademark which included the name of “Tabata Prince Hotel” in October 2017 and opened their own hotel with the same name in Tabata in April 2018.
